Study Group-International Study Centres UK

The International Study Centres (ISCs) offer intensive courses of academic subjects, study skills and English language training. Each ISC is run by Study Group in partnership with the Universities.

Foundation Year

The International Foundation Year fully prepares international students for the challenges of undergraduate degree-level study at university in the UK and the rest of Europe.

The course is aimed at students who have completed high school, but do not yet meet all the entrance requirements for an undergraduate degree. It is offered at Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, the University of Huddersfield, Kingston University, Lancaster University, University of Leicester, Liverpool John Moores University (where EU students are also accepted), Nyenrode Business University (EU students also accepted), Royal Holloway University of London, University of Surrey, and the University of Sussex.

The Fashion Studies International Foundation Year is aimed at international students who want to make the successful transition to an undergraduate programme at Istituto Marangoni.

The International Foundation Year at the University of Stirling leads to the second year of a four-year degree programme.

The Undergraduate Certificate at Heriot-Watt University is the best preparation for a Scottish degree for all international students. It is a direct path to the second year of the 4 year undergraduate degrees studied in Scotland.

International Year One

The International Year One Diploma at the University of Sussex is an intensive three-term programme which, on successful completion, will provide direct access to the second year of a 3 year undergraduate degree. Routes available include Business and Management, Computing, International Relations and International Development, and Media and Film Studies.

The International Year One at the University of Huddersfield and Kingston University, London is an advanced, three-term course of study equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree, leading to the second year of a 3 year undergraduate degree. Routes at the University of Huddersfield include Marketing, Business, Business Management and Engineering.

The International Year One at Keele University and at the University of Lincoln is a four or three-term intensive degree preparation course for students with very high secondary school grades and some additional study. They lead to the second year of a 3 year undergraduate degree. Routes at Keele include Business and Management, Computing, International Relations and International Development, and Media. Routes at Lincoln cover Business and Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Journalism and Media Studies.

International Diploma

The International Diploma at the University of Stirling is an intensive three-term programme which, on successful completion, will provide direct access to the third year of a 4 year undergraduate degree in Business (Scottish undergraduate degrees are 4 years long).

Pre-Masters programme

The Pre-Masters offers a direct path to a Masters degree for international students who do not meet the university's postgraduate entry requirements, or want to refresh their knowledge.

The programme qualifies students to meet the challenges of a taught Masters at University College Dublin, University of Sussex, Keele University, Kingston University, University of Huddersfield, Liverpool John Moores University, University of Stirling, Heriot-Watt University, and the University of Lincoln. 

Integration into the University community

ISCs offer the very best of both worlds: tailor-made provision for international students and the university campus experience. ISC students:

• live in student accommodation
• study on campus
• have access to university facilities
• receive the highest levels of academic monitoring and personal support

Progression to a degree

The programmes are fully validated or approved by each university and lead directly into a wide choice of degree subjects. On successful completion of the ISC course, students are guaranteed progression to a degree at the host university.
