Scholarships

There are a number of Scholarships which will provide financial support to eligible postgraduate students to meet the costs associated with postgraduate education. They are:

• Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA)
• Indigenous Staff scholarships
• International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS)
• University Scholarships

ANU Scholarship

The International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) are available for study leading to the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy or to a Master of Philosophy and are funded by the Commonwealth Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR).

University of Melbourne Scholarship

The Australia Awards aim to promote knowledge, education links and enduring ties between Australia and our neighbours through programs.

UNSW Scholarship

UNSW offers the following scholarships to international research candidates of exceptional research potential to undertake a higher degree by research. Only one application is required for the UNSW International Research Scholarships, applicants will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

Monash Scholarship

Postgraduate Research Scholarships are available for full-time research at postgraduate level for study at one of Monash University's Australian campuses. Over 300 living allowance or stipend scholarships and 70 international tuition-paying scholarships are offered at the main central selection round, which closes on 31 October each year. A mid-year scholarship round is held each year which closes on 31 May.

University of Queensland Scholarship

Students can apply anytime for admission to research higher degree programs. However, students who wish to be considered for the following UQ Graduate School scholarships should note that the Graduate School Scholarship Selection Committee meets four times a year to award the following scholarships:

Adelaide Scholarship

Scholarship applications for undergraduate students who want to start their study at the University of Adelaide in 2012 will open in September/October 2011. Scholarships that will be available in 2012 include:

Macquarie Scholarship

The MUIS Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarship and MUIS Merit Scholarship are available across most courses to cover a range of full and partial international tuition fees for study on campus at North Ryde in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree.

Australia Endeavour Awards For local and international students, worth up to $263,500; applications open April/November.

UTS Scholarship

UTS: Engineering offers six scholarships to high achieving International Students each semester, for the following courses: Bachelor of Engineering Bachelor of Engineering Diploma in Engineering Practice Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Bachelor of Science in IT, Diploma in IT Professional Practice

Deakin Scholarship

Deakin University invites high achieving students to apply for a scholarship of up to A$5000 through the Deakin University International Scholarship Program. This scholarship is offered in the form of a fee reduction and equals an overall reduction of up to A$5000 per year based on an annual full-time enrolment of 8 credit points. Scholarships are available for undergraduate or postgraduate courses, commencing in either Trimester 1, 2 or 3. Conditions apply.

Griffith Scholarship

The IPRS is designed to attract and support highly ranked international applicants during the University's annual postgraduate research scholarship round.

Flinders Scholarship

This scholarship is intended for students who are already leaders or have the potential to assume leadership roles that can influence social and economic policy reform and development outcomes, both in their own countries and in the Asia-Pacific region. The ALA program comprises of Scholarships and Fellowships.

UOW Scholarship

The University of Wollongong offers a wide range of research scholarships and awards to eligible International Higher Degree Research students. The UOW HDR scholarships are in the form of allowances to assist candidates in meeting their living costs while they undertake their research. They can include: Annual Stipends, Living Allowances and Tuition Fee costs.

James Cook Scholarship

Apart from those listed below, Australian scholarship sources for international students are not common. Students are advised to also explore their options for scholarships within their home country prior to accepting an offer to study at JCU.

Charles Sturt Scholarship

Provides stipends (at the equivalent to Australian Postgraduate Awards) to support high quality research students in Masters or Doctoral programs at Charles Sturt University.

Newcastle Scholarship

Research Scholarships for International Students The University of Newcastle offers a number of postgraduate research scholarships to support international research candidates.

Swinburne Scholarship

Australian Government Foreign Loans Postgraduate Research Scholarships Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop Scholarship

LaTrobe Scholarship

The IPRS (previously referred to as the Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scheme) and LTUFRRS awards are open to international students who want to study a higher degree by research at a Master's or PhD level. The EIPRS are funded by the Australian Government and approximately 300 scholarships are awarded nationally each year. In 2008 40 LTUFRRS will be available for commencing research candidates.

Tasmania Scholarship

These scholarships provide international students with a 25% reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of the course. It is available to all bachelor degrees (except Medicine, Pharmacy and Psychology) including an Honours year and postgraduate by coursework degrees. The scholarship also extends to some of the university’s Foundation Studies programs, Associate Degrees, Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas. The scholarship is for tuition fees only and is not transferrable to other costs such as living expenses.

Murdoch Scholarship

If you are planning to study at Murdoch or already enrolled here chances are there is a scholarship you can apply for. The majority of scholarships for undergraduate students aim to provide financial assistance for those in hardship, like the Murdoch Senate Scholarship.

Canberra Scholarship

The University of Canberra is allocated an International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) each year. Applicants must be commencing a PhD. Candidates who are allocated an IPRS are not required to pay their tuition fees or Overseas Student Health Cover. IPRS awardees may also be eligible to receive the prestigious W J Weeden Scholarship.

UWS Scholarship

These awards are for full-time study towards higher degrees by research. IPRS are funded by the Department of Education, Employment & Workplace Relations (DEEWR). Competition for scholarships is intense; only applicants with extensive research training and experience will be offered an award.

ACU Scholarship

ACU offers a wide range of scholarships and bursaries to commencing and continuing undergraduate and postgraduate students across all fields of study.

Sunshine Coast Scholarship

Awards are available for a period of 2 years for a master level research degree and 3 years for doctoral research degrees. USC funded IPRS equivalent scholarships may also be awarded to meritorious candidates both during the annual scholarship round and outside the annual scholarship round at the discretion of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research).

Southern Cross Scholarship

Southern Cross University is committed to providing postgraduate students with practical assistance to complete their programs. The University offers two types of Commonwealth Scholarships to assist higher degree by research (ie: PhD and Masters by Thesis) students.

Charls Darwin Scholarship

CDU offers 4 weeks free on-campus accommodation at International House Darwin (NFIH) for newly arriving full-fee paying international students commencing their first degree or diploma program at the University in 2011 or 2012. Vice-Chancellors International High Achievers Scholarships

Victoria Scholarship

We offer the following scholarships for Australian students: 1. Vice-Chancellor's Scholarships (incorporating Australian Postgraduate Award) - 2011 stipend rate: $30,000 per annum 2. Australian Postgraduate Awards - 2011 stipend rate: $22,860 per annum

Edith Cowan Scholarship
