    Requirements for the JMU ESL Endorsement Program

    1. Graduation from an approved teacher preparation program in English as a Second Language.
    2. Completion of a program includes a minimum of 30 semester hours and an initial teaching license.

    Course Offerings:

    • Concepts in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching Strategies
    • Cross-Cultural Education
    • Assessment for Curriculum Development in ESL
    • Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages and ESL
    • Field Experience in ESL

    ESL Classroom Teacher is worked with recently arrived and intermediate/advanced non-native English speaking students in language arts and content.
