Waiariki Schools and Academies

School of Business and Tourism
This school has existed in its present form since 2006, however business and tourism, as areas of study, have been part of Waiariki since the Institute's earliest days. During this time the qualifications offered have been in response to market demands with options that underpin local business and tourism development. Our qualifications range from entry level right through to diploma and degree level.

School of Computing, Technology and Communications
This school provides certificate to degree courses in all areas of computing and technology, journalism, art and design for a truly active and interactive environment for students and lecturers. The school provides tailored workspaces for the courses it offers and its lecturers are specialists in their fields.
 

School of Forestry and Primary Industries
The diplomas in forest management, and sustainable energy, and most short courses are taught primarily at the Mokoia Campus. Timber machining and other wood processing courses are taught on site at the Waipa Campus.
Maintaining strong industry links ensures our courses and training reflect today's industry needs. The School of Forestry and Primary Industries is located on two sites with regional and on-site teaching also being available. We offer training in a range of disciplines from silviculture and practical logging through to timber remanufacturing including saw doctoring and timber machining. We also offer training for forest managers and harvest planners.
 

School of Nursing and Health Studies
The School of Nursing and Health Studies offers a range of certificates and qualifications in nursing health and complimentary medicine. The Bachelor of Nursing has a reputation for producing some of the top graduates in New Zealand. Students in all courses are well supported by highly qualified lecturing and administrative staff.

School of Trade Training
The School of Trade Training offers a wide range of career focused qualifications that will ensure graduating students are work ready. Successful academy scholars will enrol in a qualification of their choice at Waiariki Institute of Technology and access musical mentoring, performance opportunities and workshops that will provide a comprehensive base of musical and performance knowledge to help launch their music career.
 

Waiariki Academy of Sport

Sport science and medicine support is managed by the Academy of Sport staff. Services to athletes include individual programme planning, testing, and prescription in areas such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, and physical training and conditioning. Academy staff work with the athletes, their individual coaches, and their mentors to provide complete support through training and competition.
The Waiariki region offers ideal training environments in numerous sports. Besides the major sports, the academy focuses on those for which this region is so well known, including mountain biking, kayaking and golf.
