LaTrobe University hase an excellent reputation for our nursing education and offer a range of pathways to become a Registered Nurse. They cater for school leavers, mature age students, local and international students, and students with a previous degree or qualification as an enrolled nurse.
- La Trobe was the first provider of tertiary based education for Nurses, with our first course commencing in 1974.
- La Trobe University has enviable partnerships with leading Victorian Hospitals. We have Clinical Schoolslocated at The Alfred, Austin Health, Northern Health, Royal Melbourne, Mercy Health and The Women's.
- During your final 18 months you will be located at one of our Clinical Schools. The extensive coverage of our Clinical School locations across the metropolitan area helps to ensure students can study as close as possible to their residential address.
- Learning in advanced simulation centres helps students prepare for the real clinical environment.
- Students undertake their clinical placement in hospital based high acuity environments, gaining experience and confidence in complex healthcare.
- Clinical supervision is provided by clinical nurses and midwives delivering patient care as well as academic nursing and midwifery staff from La Trobe.
Career opportunities
Graduates are highly sought after and have transportable skills. You can expect to work in the health care industry, education and government. You may be eligible for registration in other countries as well as membership of the Royal College of Nursing Australia.
