    The School of Nursing and Midwifery strives to provide the highest quality education to nurses and midwives throughout the range of undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs including research application, training and generation of new knowledge. A priority for the School is to prepare graduates to provide excellence in the provision of health services across a range of contemporary practice settings. The School is committed to delivering nursing and midwifery education in innovative ways that engage students through a range of learning activities in classroom, online and practice-based settings. 

    Practice-Based Laboratories

    Our new practice-based laboratories enable students to undertake a range of practical learning and simulated experiential activities necessary to acquire skill sets for professional nursing and midwifery practice.

    Graduates

    Graduate employment outcomes for the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of South Australia are consistently high with over 97 per cent of students gaining full-time work after completion of their undergraduate program.

    Undergraduate degrees

    Bachelor of Nursing

    Nurses are the largest group of health professionals, both in Australia and internationally, and have an important influence and role in healthcare delivery and policy development. In particular, the role of the nurse is central to enhancing the quality of life for individuals across their lifespan. The Bachelor of Nursing program has been designed to prepare nurses to meet healthcare delivery requirements for the 21st century and respond to Australian and international healthcare trends. 

    Student registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia is required in order to study this program. Students who do not meet registration criteria and are refused registration by the Board, or who have their registration rescinded during the program, will be unable to continue in the program. The registration process will commence following initial enrolment and further information will be provided by the University with offer letters.

    Graduate entry programs in Health Sciences

    Apply for one of these fast-track Graduate Entry Masters programs and you'll be entering your chosen profession in just two years.

    If you want to be a physiotherapist or occupational therapist, there is an alternative to the normal path straight out of high school.  If you already have a health or science or other relevant degree and the appropriate foundation in specific disciplines, you can apply to take one of our fast-track fee-paying Masters programs.  Building on the body of knowledge you already have, they can put you into your chosen profession in just two years.  Even if you don't currently have all the pre-requisites, we also offer courses that may bring you up to the mark.
