We encourage people on working holiday visas to consider jobs in agriculture, horticulture and viticulture (grape-growing). Working holidaymakers with three months’ experience working in the horticulture or viticulture industries could be eligible for a Working Holidaymaker Visa Extension – an extra three-month stay in New Zealand.

You can apply for many of our working holiday schemes online. After you've applied you can expect to receive an email or automated message from us within five working days, either approving your visa or asking for more information. See the working holiday scheme questions and answers section to check if have to submit an X-Ray Certificate for Temporary Entry or a Medical and Chest X-Ray Certificate. After you apply, if a certificate is required, you will receive an automated message, requiring this to be submitted within 15 days. Check your spam or junk mail folders, so you do not miss important information, as our emails sometimes get mistaken for spam.
