Scholarships at Northland Polytechnic

Here are a range of scholarships available from NorthTec or other organsiations.

• Scholarships for School Leavers

• EFL Scholarship

Our Zero Fees English Scholarship gives you 24 weeks of English lessons for no charge, when you enrol on any one-year full-time programme. 

The scholarship is designed to help you improve your English before undertaking academic programmes, and provides you with English lessons at no additional cost.

Simply pay the bond of NZ $9000 and you can start studying on NorthTec’s 24 Week English Scholarship. When you enrol on a mainstream programme of one year or more, the bond is then credited back to your mainstream course, and you will only have to pay the difference.

If you do not meet the English entry requirement to the mainstream course after 24 weeks, you will then pay NZ $360 per week to continue your English study, until you meet the required standard.

Conditions

• The English Zero Fees Scholarship course lasts for 24 weeks, starting from the first day of attendance, and takes into account prescribed holidays.

• If you leave NorthTec after 24 weeks of the Zero Fees English Scholarship, you will not be refunded the bond of $9000.

• If you undertake a mainstream programme of less than one year after your 24 weeks of Zero Fees English study, you will have to pay the full tuition fee for that programme. No partial refund of the bond can be given.

• Your bond will not be returned if you have to stop your English studies at any time within the 24-week programme for any unacceptable reasons, such as breaching the policies of New Zealand Immigration Services.

• If you have to stop your English study within the 24 weeks for reasons beyond your control, you will be charged for the number of weeks that you have studied English, at a rate of $375 per week. 

• You will need to put your reasons for ending your study in writing, and provide evidence that the circumstances are beyond your control.

• If you choose to take additional holidays during the 24 weeks of Zero Fees English study, you will lose the entitlement to free study during the weeks you are away.

• You will need to sign a contract with NorthTec, stating that you agree to all the above conditions, in order to qualify for the Zero Fees English Scholarship.
