Scholarships at Nelson Malborough Inst of Technology
A range of scholarships and grants are available for students studying at NMIT. Some scholarships apply to specific programmes and others are available to assist students who fit criteria based on hardship or equity situations.
These scholarships and grants are available for your benefit, to help you achieve your dream, so take advantage of them.

If you see a scholarship or grant that you are interested in applying for, please read the online Terms of Reference and if you fit the criteria, and would like to apply, fill in the application form and return it to NMIT before the closing date.
The NMIT scholarships available are listed below. The majority of the following NMIT scholarships will be open from 1 October 2012 - 2pm 1 March 2013.

Nelson Marlborough Freemasons Charity
Open to full time, full year students at NMIT, studying at either Nelson or Marlborough campus, showing good motivation and some degree of financial hardship.
5 x $400 - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013. -
Nelson Pine Industries
Open to students in their second year of continuous study on the following programmes:Up to $500 per student - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013, except for Beauty Therapy, which has a closing date of 2pm, 4 July 2012.
- 1 x full time Bachelor of Information Technology (Level 6) at Nelson campus (excluding Half a Dregree for Free students)
- 1 x Bachelor of Commerce (Level 6) at Marlborough campus (excluding Half a Degree for Free students)
Also: - 1 x full time student studying the Certificate in Beauty Therapy
- 1 x full time student studying the Certificate in Advanced Professional Hairdressing

Toss Woollaston Art
Open to students intending to study full time at NMIT on art or design programmes of at least one year. Students will need to provide a portfolio with their application.
$1000 - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013. -
Nelson Federation of Graduate Women Grant
Open to highly motivated 2nd or 3rd year female degree students who have been/are experiencing personal hardship.
$1500 - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013. . -
Kain Scholarship for Women
Open to motivated women studying full time at NMIT; one first year student and one second year student.
2 x $1000 - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013. -
NMIT Pre-Trade
Open to applicants of the Certificate in Carpentry (Pre-Trade) at NMIT and who have attended a regional school for at least one year prior to the date of their application.
Up to 7 x $900 - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013. -
NMIT Progression Scholarship
Open to students who have successfully completed year one of a diploma programme and plan to continue to year two, with the intention of completing the diploma.
Up to 2 x $2500 - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013. -
Arrow International Ltd Trades Scholarship
Open to students under 20 years of age wishing to study full time at NMIT after successful completion of the NMIT Certificate in Trades and Primary Industries, and enrolling in 2012 on a course leading to a recognised qualification in a Trades based programmes e.g. Automotive Engineering, Carpentry, Hairdressing, Beauty, Aviation Engineering and Conservation.
Up to 5 x $1000 - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013.

Arrow International Ltd Applied Business Scholarship
Open to students enrolled on Year 1 of the NMIT Bachelor of Commerce – majoring in Management, Marketing and Accounting for 3 years.
Up to $2,000 per year to a maximum of 3 years - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013.

Open to 2nd year Diploma in Viticulture and Wine Production students.

Wither Hills
Open to 2nd year Diploma in Viticulture and Wine Production students who intend to carry on to study the Lincoln University Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology.
Up to $4,000, plus $1000 per year, for two years, for attending the annual Bragato conference, paid work experience during semester breaks and summer holidays, plus the option of full time employment on completion of study. - Blenheim Lions
Open to full time students studying at Marlborough Campus.
$500 - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013.

Open to Women studying full time at the Marlborough Campus.
$750 - applications closing date 2pm, 1 March 2013. -

This programme provides:
- Young people and those returning to the work force with a practical supported pathway
- An opportunity to up skill staff already in employment or provide the opportunity for employees to validate their existing skills with a qualification
Our aim is to create opportunities to gain valuable work experience and increase skill development with progressive and socially responsible employers. It basically works like an apprenticeship scheme.
For employers, this is a simple and effective response to demands for energised, motivated and productive employees and to provide Professional Development for those wishing to consolidate their experience by working towards the National Certificate in Business Administration Level 3 or 4.
This is a one year supported entry into full-time or part-time work with complementary study, designed to prepare people for future careers
