Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)

The Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa is for young people aged 18 to 30 who want to travel and work for up to 12 months in Australia. This visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through periods of temporary or casual employment.

The Work and Holiday visa program is designed to encourage cultural exchange and closer ties between arrangement countries.

This visa is for people from Argentina, Bangladesh, Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and the USA. Citizens of Iran who are currently in Australia on a Work and Holiday visa may also be eligible to apply for further Work and Holiday visas.

Papua New Guinea Passport holders will soon be eligible for this Visa.

Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462) - Argentina

The Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa is for young people aged 18 to 30 who want to travel and work for up to 12 months in Australia. This visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through periods of temporary or casual employment.

Work and Holiday Visa Options for Citizens of Iran

Australia no longer has a Work and Holiday visa arrangement with Iran. However Iranian citizens who are currently in Australia and hold a Work and Holiday visa may be eligible to extend their stay by applying for up to two further Work and Holiday visas.

Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462) - Papua New Guinea

Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG) have signed a Work and Holiday agreement, allowing young people to enjoy an extended holiday in the two countries.

The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Chris Bowen MP and the PNG Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, the Hon Ano Pala, signed the Memorandum of Understanding for a Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa arrangement at the 20th annual Australian-PNG Ministerial Forum at Parliament House in Canberra on Tuesday 12 October 2011.

The agreement means university-educated Australian and PNG travellers aged between 18 and 30 years old will be able to work and holiday in each other's country for up to 12 months when the program comes into effect.

Australia and PNG are now working towards putting in place the administrative and legal processes that are necessary to bring the agreement into effect.
