Education at The University of Nebraska Omaha The College of Education is committed to the development of dedicated practitioners, reflective scholars and responsible citizens. We offer a diverse range of majors and programs in five academic units: Counseling, Educational Leadership, Health, Physical Education and Recreation, Special Education and Communication Disorders and Teacher Education.

UNO's College of Education offers the challenges necessary for growth along with the support needed to excel. The College of Education offers: Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Counseling with concentrations in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, K-12 School Counseling, Student Affairs Practice in Higher Education, and Gerontology. UNO is the only choice in Nebraska for graduate-level counseling programs that offer two CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accredited degrees.This accreditation from the American Counseling Association reflects our departmental and university-wide dedication to academic excellence. Informed, Engaged, Ready to Lead More than 50 per cent of school administrators - principals, assistant and associate superintendents, and superintendents - in the state of Nebraska have one or more degrees from the University of Nebraska Omaha. There is a reason schools and communities throughout the state hire UNO graduates: the Educational Leadership Department (EDL) is committed to transforming students' passion for education with the professional and organizational skills necessary to achieve positive change. With concentrations in building administration or teacher leadership, the masters and endorsement programs at UNO provide the basis for administrative certification. The doctoral and specialist degrees in educational administration are terminal degrees designed to enhance leadership and develop expertise in chosen fields. Graduates from the Educational Leadership program will gain the knowledge and expertise to lead others by making informed decisions based on data, engaging in problem solving, planning, research, assessment, collaboration, negotiation and conflict-resolution. Educational Leadership Department Offers: Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration Educational Specialist and Superintendent Certificate Master's Degree and Endorsement Program in Educational Leadership and Supervision with an area of specialization in Elementary or Secondary School Administration Excellence Educational Leadership at UNO has a long tradition of preparing school leaders for the challenges of building and district leadership. Currently, over half of all area administrators have earned a degree from UNO. Rigor Face-to-face and hybrid courses offer students rich opportunities for real time dialog with colleagues and experts. Site visits, simulations, service learning, and internships provide educators with experience in effective school leadership. Innovation Newly renovated Roskens Hall creates the setting for web-enriched as well as collaborative educational experiences. From the 4-day LEAD to the year-long Leadership Academy, candidates have opportunities to experience leadership in unique formats. Teaching interests include Program Evaluation, Statistics, Governance & Politics, School Finance, and other courses related to school policy and educational leadership. Flexibility Courses held evenings and summers provide options to meet your busy schedule. Each course is offered in at least two different times and sessions to allow for individual needs. Convenience Located in central Omaha, access from Nebraska and western Iowa creates a diverse urban, suburban, and rural student corps. Parking is available in a nearby covered parking garage. Affordability Degrees are granted through the University of Nebraska Graduate College and financial aid is available. The School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER)
Innovative, Creative, Ready to Excel The School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) is nationally recognized for its research and innovation. The School curriculum and faculty will challenge you to attain intellectual achievements and to develop skills based on best practices. UNO's faculty and staff are dedicated to meeting the highest aspirations of our students, whether it is to begin a career or pursue additional education. Last year: Every undergraduate student working for our Nebraska Biomechanics Core Facility was accepted to the professional school of their choice. 100% of our Master of Arts Athletic Training graduates were employed full-time in their desired field within three months of graduation. We are proud to say our Speech-Language Pathology program is CAA-accredited through the year 2020.
