  • Applying for a Postgraduate Research Scholarship

    Postgraduate Research Scholarships are available for full-time research at postgraduate level for study at one of Monash University's Australian campuses. Over 300 living allowance or stipend scholarships and 70 international tuition-paying scholarships are offered at the main central selection round, which closes on 31 October each year. A mid-year scholarship round is held each year which closes on 31 May. Approximately 70 living allowance or stipend scholarships and 15 tuition-paying scholarships are offered. In addition most faculties offer scholarships to a number of applicants who miss out on a central scholarship offer.  

    Australian Government Endeavour Awards

    The Endeavour Awards is the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing opportunities for citizens of the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. Awards are also available for Australians to do the same abroad. Please note applications for these awards are made directly to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR)and not through Monash University. Please note that applicants applying for an award to undertake a PhD or research program at Monash University are required to apply for admission to the course. Please refer to the Research Degrees at Monash website for details on application procedures. 

    Monash University International Scholarships for Excellence

     

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, you must be:

    • an international student, and
    • applying for a course through International Recruitment Services, or
    • studying Australian Year 12 or IB in 2011, or
    • a continuing international student, and
    • enrolled or intending to enrol in an on-campus undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) degree at a Monash campus in Australia.

    Selection criteria

    Awarded to the highest achieving eligible:

    • students applying for a course through International Recruitment Services who achieved in the top 5 per cent in their previous studies, or
    • Australian Year 12 applicants based on their ATAR score or equivalent. Students must have achieved an ATAR score or equivalent of at least 95.00, or
    • continuing Monash students with a minimum of a high distinction weighted average mark (80 per cent).

    Scholarships will be allocated based on the strategic priorities determined by the University. Scholarships will be offered to commencing students first, with any remaining scholarships to be offered to continuing Monash University students.

    Value

    $6000 per 48 credit points of study, for the minimum number of credit points required to complete the degree. The number available is variable depending on funding. In 2011, 58 scholarships were available. A minimum of one scholarship will be awarded to a student in each faculty.
