University of Queensland Scholarship
International Student Scholarships
UQ offers scholarship support for:
- tuition fees
- A living allowance
Students can apply anytime for admission to research higher degree programs. However, students who wish to be considered for the following UQ Graduate School scholarships should note that the Graduate School Scholarship Selection Committee meets four times a year to award the following scholarships:
- International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)
- UQ Centennial Scholarship (UQ Cent)
- UQ International Scholarship (UQI)
- UQ Advantage Scholarship (UQ Adv)
- Graduate School International Travel Award (GSITA)
In order to have your application considered for a scholarship, it is advisable to submit your application for admission and scholarship form as early as possible to your proposed School/Institute. The following are recommended dates for your application to be submitted to your enrolling School/Institute.

Undergraduate Scholarships
UQ Academic Scholarships
UQ’s Academic Scholarship program aims to reward the achievements of outstanding school leavers and gap year students. Over 300 scholarships will be awarded for study in 2012. If you are a high-achieving student and you are completing Year 12 studies in 2011 (or 2010 and you’re on a gap year) then you are encouraged to apply. A minimum of $100,000 in scholarship funding will also be reserved for applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage in one or more of the following areas:
- Financial hardship
- Geographic isolation
There are three categories of Academic Scholarships:
UQ Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships
Valued at $12,000 per year for up to 5 years, these scholarships will be automatically awarded to scholarship applicants who achieve a result which places them at the very top of the OP1 band (including IB and interstate equivalents - bonus ranks do not apply). Around 30 are awarded each year.*
UQ Excellence Scholarships
Valued at $6,000 per year for up to 4 years, these scholarships will be awarded to OP1 (including IB and interstate equivalents - bonus ranks do not apply) applicants who, during their senior years, have demonstrated outstanding extra-curricular academic and/or leadership and/or significant community service achievements.
