Bachelor of Laws
The Monash law degree is a valuable commodity, providing a springboard for a wide range of careers in legal practice and beyond. A law degree teaches you the concepts, procedures and reasoning underpinning the Australian legal system, as well as a range of transferable skills such as problem solving, analytical thinking and communication.
Duration: 4 years full-time
Entry requirements
Equivalent Australian Year 12 OR to be eligible for an external transfer OR internal transfer, students must have:
(1) completed one or more years of a recognised tertiary degree (ie. a minimum of 48 credit points) and
(2) achieved a credit average or better (65%+) across all university units for an international full-fee place.
Master of Laws (Juris Doctor)
The Monash Juris Doctor (JD) is an intensive, graduate entry law degree. The Monash JD recognises the specific needs of non-law graduates returning to study law and teaches the knowledge and skills only a law degree from one of Australia's leading universities can provide. Small class sizes and innovative teaching attracts passionate and dedicated individuals, and classes are taught at the city-based Monash Law Chambers, located in the heart of Melbourne's legal precinct.

An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification. Selection is a competitive process made primarily on academic merit. In addition, consideration may be given to:
- Personal and professional achievements
- Communication skills
- Commitment, motivation and reasons for undertaking the course
- Masters degree of at least 1.5 years equivalent.
Master of Laws
The Master of Laws (LLM) offers maximum flexibility and choice, with a broad range of units available, enabling you to individually tailor your masters degree to suit your interests and professional needs. The Monash LLM is ideal for law graduates who want to develop in-depth knowledge of a particular legal area or those wanting to advance their professional expertise in a current area of practice. You will investigate contemporary legal issues from both international and local perspectives and develop your legal research and writing skills. Principal areas of study include: banking and finance law; commercial law; competition law; copyright and trademark law; dispute resolution; eLaw; ethics; government law; human rights law; intellectual property law; international and comparative law; privacy law; regulation law; tribunal procedures; and workplace and employment law. This course may be completed by undertaking eight coursework units or a combination of coursework and a minor research thesis.

A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent legal qualification and at least two years of relevant work experience.

Overall IELTS of 7.0; with Reading 6.5, Listening 6.5, Writing 6.5 and Speaking 6.5
