    Yorkville University

After an intensive period of planning, Yorkville University was established in 2003 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The University is private and non-denominational, specializing in practice oriented graduate and undergraduate level academic programs.

In March, 2004, the Department of Education of the Province of New Brunswick granted Designation status, approving Yorkville University as a degree granting institution authorized to offer the Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology. On October, 2011 the university was granted the authority to offer a Master of Education in Adult Education.

Through its Faculty of Behavioural Sciences, the University offers the didactic portion of the Masters program in Counselling Psychology (MACP) in an online and blended format. The Faculty of Education offers a Master of Education in Adult Education, which will also be delivered online.

Yorkville University’s academic year is organized on a trimester basis, with three terms of fifteen weeks each plus intersession breaks in each calendar year. Terms begin September, January, and May.

Yorkville University’s degree programs are designed for working adults with high aspirations and busy professional schedules, in that high academic expectations are mixed with an emphasis on student service and convenience, augmented by the latest advances in educational technology.

In all of its programs, Yorkville University offers the opportunity to advance students education online from the convenience of their home or office. The classes are designed for asynchronous delivery, which means students study, and complete assignments at times, which are convenient for them. The university’s academic and administrative staff is never more than a phone call or email away. All Yorkville University programs feature a professional library and bookstore that are literally at the students’ fingertips.

Students’ course of study will reflect traditional values of academic excellence in teaching and thinking, kept relevant and current using the latest educational technology. Courses at Yorkville University will be taught in a similar time frame to what students will find at a traditional university, but by eliminating long summer and midterm breaks students will graduate and move forward in their career more quickly.

Yorkville University’s professors are highly qualified in their fields. All faculty teaching masters level programs hold doctoral degrees and professional licensure or registration, and they bring their real-world practical experience to your classes. Many of these professors also teach at other leading universities in both Canada and the United States. The individual courses and, indeed, the entire curriculum at Yorkville University are carefully designed to optimize your learning experience.
