CityU was established as City College in 1973. We changed our name in 1982 to City University better reflect our growth and development and academic offerings and in 2007 to City University of Seattle to more strongly identify with the region we call home. From the beginning, CityU has been about giving real people the real tools they need to be successful in the real world.Practical education from experienced professionals - people who know what it takes.

More than 35 years later, CityU is one of the Northwest's largest private nonprofit universities, with 45,000 graduates and counting.

CityU was one of the nation's first to focus on the needs of working adults. We know that you want more choices, fewer problems. That's why we provide flexible, self-directed programs that fit your life and how you want to learn.

Work online, in a classroom, or a little of each. And we have different locations throughout Washington, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Slovakia, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic, and China.

We offer various programs in business, technology, counseling, and teaching, and each one is designed with one goal in mind: to get you everything you need to pursue the job you want. The rest is up to you.
