When Mount Royal opened its doors almost 100 years ago — Sept., 1911 — it welcomed 179 students. Today, about 12,000 credit students take a variety of programs and courses including bachelor’s degrees, applied degrees, university transfer courses, diplomas and certificates.The courses have changed over time, but Mount Royal's concentration remains the same — offering you with quality teaching and small class sizes.Experience has also taught Mount Royal the importance of preparing students well for life after graduation. That means practical and current information, as well as hands-on learning through work placements, practicum and co-op education.

While students are #1 at Mount Royal, we also recognize that we are part of a community. And as a responsible community member, Mount Royal gives back.The Roderick Mah Centre for Continuous Learning, received gold certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). In 2007, Mount Royal also won the prestigious Calgary Award for Blue Skies Environmental Achievement for our commuting program and incentives.Mount Royal also takes pride in responding to community needs. To increase Albertans’ access to university-level courses, Mount Royal now provides nine bachelor’s degrees.
