At RMIT School of Art you will be connected to the local, urban and global world through a quality education in fine art, visual arts, arts management, and public art. The School of Art has a long acclaimed position as the first preference Art School in Melbourne City and the State of Victoria.
Global mobility and international relevance is one of our strengths. The School of Art connects with arts industries and communities in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, China, Korea, Britain, Europe, Turkey, Mexico, Canada and USA. You could be part of the action with opportunities for global learning, international field trips and exchanges. The Bachelor of Art (Fine Art), and Master of Fine Art are offered in Hong Kong in partnership with the Hong Kong Art School; the Doctor of Fine Arts is offered internationally with teaching seminars in various locations in China, Korea and Vietnam; Public Art students have the opportunity to take field trips to Turkey and China working with local communities; and international students from a range of countries select the Melbourne campus for their Foundation, Diploma and Degree studies. Staff and students engage with international research projects and the International Artist in Residence Program has a leading reputation globally. The school features two professionally run galleries and other exhibition spaces for display of local and international works, and are integral to the life of the Melbourne campus.

Koori art is one of the strengths at the school with Koori artists meeting at the Indigenous Arts Unit in Bundoora.

Public Art / Art in Public Space
The Public Art / Art in Public Space programs offer experience required to produce Public Art projects in a professional environment. They provide historical, theoretical, practical and administrative learning. Candidates will attain the skills to act effectively in the field as artists, client representatives and Public Art project business and site managers.
Study explores art in the public realm, both commissioned and self-initiated. Practice may include street sculpture and street art, wall paintings, constructed landscapes and public installation, projects in virtual space; and trans-disciplinary work engaging new and emerging technologies. Projects can be carried out collaboratively with architects, landscape architects, urban planners, designers and other related professionals. Candidates undertake real life projects both in Australia and overseas, engaging a broad network of industry partners and associated institutions.

Fine Art and Visual Art
The School of Art offers an array of educational pathways in traditional, technological and cutting-edge contemporary arts practice. It provides a rigorous, supportive and dynamic studio environment for both practice-based projects and conceptual and theoretical enquiry.
The programs are accessible and robust, with onshore and offshore opportunities and challenges for formative-level students and experts alike. Multidisciplinary study engages with the disciplines of painting, printmaking, gold and silversmithing, drawing, indigenous art, sculpture, ceramics, multimedia, photography, public art, art business and art history/theory. Arts Management
The studies in Arts Management are designed to provide pathways to suit each student’s professional and academic needs. They are geared to meet the needs of practitioners who are working or wish to work and/or broaden their career opportunities as artists or managers. Through close collaboration with industry professionals, these studies have been designed to reflect the needs of the contemporary arts worker with the aim of fostering leadership in the arts industry.
The program aim to provide students with the opportunity to recognise, develop and extend their professional knowledge, skills, attitudes and values within a flexible framework. The program equips students for positions of responsibility in a variety of arts, educational, and community contexts. Courses of study include Arts Management, Community Arts Management, Cultural policy and Practice, Curating contemporary art, Gallery and Museum Management, Law and Arts Management.
