    School of Computing and Information Systemsis based on the Hobart and Launceston campuses but also teach in Burnie, Sydney, Kuwait, Shanghai, and Hangzhou. CIS consists of approximately 40 staff and 2200 students. Staff and students have access to the latest technology across our 10 computer labs. We are also home to HIT Lab AU which specialises in virtual and augmented reality.

    Our degrees are accredited by the Australian Computer Society. We offer the undergraduate degrees of Bachelor of Information Systemsand Bachelor of Computingas well as combined degrees. We also offer Information Systems, Computing, Human Interface Technologies, and Games Technology majors within many other degrees, for example, the Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Arts. Students can also complete minors in Information Systems, Computing, Human Interface Technologies, Games Technology, and Electronics.

    Computing and Information Systems are available in both Hobart and Launceston. Launceston is the home of HIT Lab AU, while Hobart is the home of Games Technology. The School is housed in Building V on Launceston's picturesque Newnham campus. In Hobart the School is based in the Centenary Building. It is also possible to undertake a number of our units from Burnie and we welcome expressions of interest from students so that we can make more available.

    We offer Honours degrees in Computingand Information Systemsfor those with a degree already, as well as the coursework graduate degrees including the Masters of Creative Media Technology, Masters of Information Systems, Masters of Electronic Business, Masters of Information Technology, and Masters of Computing. We also offer the research higher degree programmes of MScand PhD.

    We conduct research into topics across the breadth of the ICT spectrum and have particular research strengths including interpretivist research in Information Systems, E-health and data mining, human-interface technologies, and marine ICT. We're a friendly group of people who take pride in our teaching and research. We have good facilities and a great environment for study and socialising.
