General English / English for Academic Purposes

This course is ideal for students who wish to improve their English language skills and to become confident users of English. Each level has classes in the skills of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. The areas of Grammar, Vocabulary and Pronounciation are also covered. Teachers use a range of materials and activities to make classes interesting and relevant.

For students at the Intermediate level and above the GE/EAP course leads to other courses with an academic focus at the College and a pathway to The Australian National University. This is achieved through classes in academic reading, academic writing, presentation skills and study skills. Familiarisation with the IELTS test is also covered.

ANU Access English

The aim of this program is to help students improve their general proficiency in using English in academic settings and to develop the study skills needed for university studies.

The 10-week program runs twice a year and is designed for students to complete their English program in time to begin their undergraduate or postgraduate studies.

ANU Access English Preparation

The aim of the Access English Preparation course is to help students improve their general proficiency in using English in academic settings and to develop the study skills needed for university studies.

The 12-week course is the recommended pathway program in the ANU Access English Course at ANU College.

IELTS Evening Classes

IELTS PREPARATION – ACADEMIC & GENERAL TRAINING

ANU College is offering part-time evening IELTS Preparation courses aimed at those who need to provide proof of language proficiency for migration purposes.

Small class sizes allow for individual feedback from the teacher. The classes are taught by experienced and qualified English teachers who have successfully prepared students for the IELTS test.

The IELTS Evening Classes are not available to holders of student visas as their principal course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

ANU College recommends a minimum of IELTS 6.5 (overall) for entry into this course.
