The University of Newcastle Language Centre is situated in a new building in the centre of the University campus. It has three well-equipped language labs, one of which is computerised, self access audio and video facilities and a large computer laboratory with full Internet access. The Centre offers a wide range of programs from Elementary to Advanced General English and English for Academic Purposes. Courses include educational excursions. An 'Áustralian Friend Program', helps students to rapidly improve their spoken skills, as well as enabling them to develop new friendships. Students may also use the University's two libraries, computer centre, sports centre, student union and participate in extra curricula activities organised by the Centre's leisure club.
