    Study a UWS Teaching and Education degree to gain the skills you need to make a positive difference to individuals and the wider world. You can work with people of all ages and backgrounds, helping their growth and development and, ultimately, improving social and educational standards across society.

    UWS provides a clear and direct pathway in whatever area of education you wish to work. If your passion is to work with young children, the comprehensive nature and contemporary focus of our early childhood programs will give you a head start in that area. And, there are further pathways such as Honours, Special Education, Masters programs in Leadership and Social Ecology, and eventually research Masters and Doctoral research programs to help you fast track into higher degrees of success in your career.

    Bachelor of Education (Birth-5 Years)

    The Bachelor of Education (Birth–5 Years) is a specialised pathway only available to applicants who hold a Diploma Level AQF5 qualification in Children’s Services (or equivalent). It is not available to school leaver applicants who do not have this Diploma.

    Duration: 3 Years Full Time

    Bachelor of Education (Primary - AREP Mode)

    The Bachelor of Education (Primary) AREP mode is a five-year program available only to Indigenous students.

    Duration: 3 Years Full Time

    Master of Teaching (Birth-5 Years/Birth-12 Years)

    The Master of Teaching (Birth-5 Years/Birth-12 Years) provides you with key knowledge, skills and understandings required for working as a qualified teacher with children and their families in prior to school and primary school settings. There is a strong emphasis throughout the course on curriculum and pedagogies relevant to both prior to school and school based settings. This course would be appropriate for people wanting to work as a qualified teacher in preschool, long day care or in a primary school setting. The course includes professional experience placements in prior to school and school settings. There is an early exit point of a Master of Teaching (Birth-5 Years) for students who want a Birth-5 Years qualification only.

    Duration: 2.5 Years Full Time

    Master of Teaching (Primary)

    Duration: 1 Year Accelerated Full Time

    Master of Teaching (Secondary)

    UWS can prepare you for teaching in specialist areas. These areas of study include:

    • Dance
    • Drama
    • English
    • ESL
    • Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) – for example, History, Aboriginal Studies, Commerce, Geography, Legal Studies, Society and Culture, Studies of Religion, Business Studies, Economics
    • Languages
    • Mathematics
    • Music
    • Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
    • Science

    Technology and Applied Studies (TAS) – for example, Agricultural Technology, Computing, Design and Technology, Engineering Studies, Food Technology, Graphics Technology, Industrial Technology, Information Processes and Technology, Information and Software Technology, Software Design and Development, Technology, Textiles Technology

    • Visual Arts
