    The School of Education at JCU has been training teachers since the 1960s. It offers undergraduate programs in early childhood, primary, secondary and physical education teaching and has developed exceptionally strong relationships with local schools and education providers. Postgraduate courses offer practising teachers opportunities to enrich their professional knowledge base; further develop their understanding of factors shaping educational participation and outcomes as well as their own professional practice; and provide pathways into higher research degrees. Research degrees (MEd Hons, EdD and PhD) provide opportunities to explore in greater depth issues of importance to the profession, to contribute to the body of professional knowledge and equip themselves for leadership at all levels

    Bachelor of Education

    Teaching can be one of the most satisfying and rewarding careers. The School of Education at JCU offers world-class teacher education and has forged dynamic partnerships with schools throughout northern Queensland. JCU offers excellent support for teaching students including accessible teaching staff, micro teaching and computer laboratories and excellent library and research resources.

    The Bachelor of Education is available in a range of specialisations. The Graduate Diploma of Education prepares existing degree holders for teaching careers.

    Master of Education

    The Master of Education provides both teachers and graduates from non-teaching backgrounds with the opportunity to further their qualifications for professional development. The Master of Education is a flexible program that allows students to choose a general course of subjects or select a major in Sustainability.     Doctor of Philosophy

    Duration: 3.5

    The Doctor of Philosophy is a program of supervised original research. It culminates in the submission of a thesis that demonstrates the ability for critical analysis and research that makes a significant and original contribution to the knowledge and understanding of the field of study.
