Through its almost 50 year history at the Lembah Pantai campus, the Faculty of Medicine of  the University of Malaya has produced thousands of medical, pharmacy, biomedical and nursing graduates who have gone on to serve the nation both in public and private service. In recent years the Faculty has been at the forefront of the postgraduate clinical training program in a wide range of medical specialities leading to a Masters in Medicine degree. Additionally it offers graduate programs leading to an MSc or PhD in various other biomedical fields including pharmacy, nursing, and molecular medicine.

As one of the few medical schools in Malaysia with its own dedicated teaching hospital, The Faculty of Medicine is fortunate to have on location a 900 bed fully equipped University of Malaya Medical Center which provides excellent training facilities for both undergraduates and postgraduate students in all specialities to fulfill our mission of excellence in patient care, education and research. The Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang and Banting Hospital meanwhile provide additional educational clinical experience for our undergraduate medical students.

The co-existence of a dynamic faculty and student population at the Faculty of Medicine with access to fully equipped facilities at the Faculty and the medical centre has given rise to the ability to conduct multiple research programmes that encompass the basic sciences, clinical and translational research. In line with the University’s vision to be an internationally renowned insititution of higher learning in research and innovation, members of the Faculty are embarking on numerous research programs through internal and external grants most recently supported by a large High Impact Research Grant from the Ministry of Higher Education.
