Universiti Tenaga Nasional is one of the earliest private universities in Malaysia. It is wholly owned by publicly listed Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), one of the largest electric utility companies in Asia. Universiti Tenaga Nasional prides itself on moving rapidly toward establishing itself as the regional center of education excellence by year 2020. The support and commitment it receives from its holding company, TNB, has enabled it to accelerate the infrastructure development of the campus. | |||
Colleges
Campuses PutrajayaUniversiti Tenaga Nasional's 214-ha (528.8-acre) Putrajaya campus is about 25 kilometers south of the capital city of Kuala Lumpur near Kajang in Selangor and easily accessible by a number of highways. It is close to Cyberjaya, the hub of major Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) activities and is just next to Putrajaya, the Malaysian government’s administrative center. All engineering, information technology and other technological courses are held on the Putrajaya Campus. The Putrajaya campus is roughly divided into three sections: the East Campus (Timur in Malay), West Campus (Barat) and ILSAS. UNITEN academic buildings are lettered according to their locations on the east or west side of the campus. Lettering starts with the first building on the West Campus: the Administration building (BA Block) and first building in the East Campus: the library (TA block). Sultan Haji Ahmad ShahUniversiti Tenaga Nasional's branch campus located in Bandar Muadzam Shah, Pahang Darul Makmur. The fourth prime minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, and Mr. Payet Paprik, officially open the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Campus via video conferencing in 4 May 2001. The setting-up of the branch campus is on line with Tenaga Nasional Berhads aspiration to heed the government’s call in providing more education opportunities to rural students to pursuit their studies in institutions off higher learning and act as a catalyst for economic growth, specifically in Bandar Muadzam Shah and the East Coast of the peninsular in general. The Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Campus focuses on Business Management and Accounting/Security programs providing education for executive positions in industry, commerce, and academia. All programs are designed to the academic requirements of the National Accreditation Boards (LAN) whilst the accounting degree program is designed to satisfy the requirements for membership to the relevant professional accounting bodies. | |||
