University of Technology Malaysia

Since the inception of the 9th Malaysian Plan a massive transformation in the higher education sector has taken place. It started with the introduction of the strategic plan of higher education by the Ministry of Higher Education. The most important of which is the strategic initiative in the creation of the research university status. In tandem with the status, UTM is working hard in laying down its transformation plan. In order to realize the transformation, each and every faculty and unit has to contribute in the process. In order to jump start the process, research activities have been separated from the faculty so that it can focus on the teaching and learning activities only. Although the Faculty does not manage research but the academic staffs will gain research experience carried out in the respective Research Alliance that will enrich their teaching activities.
