    Art at Otago University

Apart from being able to specialise in traditional core disciplines (such as History, Philosophy and Music), Humanities students may also choose among a variety of new interdisciplinary programmes such as Asian Studies, Film and Media Studies, and Performing Arts), as well as programmes that lead to professional qualifications in Law and Teaching. Students taking Humanities at Otago are encouraged to combine their liberal studies with papers and programmes that have a professional or vocational orientation, especially by doing a double degree for example, BA/BCom, BA/LLB, or BA/BTchg(Prim).

    A World of Music

At Otago we make music, we know about music, and we are passionate about music. At the University of Otago you can choose to include a wide range of subjects in your degree. We offer courses to equip you for careers in musical performance, media, the music industry, theatre, music education, technology and many other areas.

The Department offers degrees and diplomas specialising in the performance of both classical and contemporary music, composition, popular music, and world music. Various study options are available: Papers, Minors, Majors, Diplomas, and Postgraduate Degrees. The Department offers various performing ensembles, and Dunedin City is particularly active in promoting music and the arts. The Department has an extensive public concert series that is offered free to all music students.
