Massey Education
Education at Massey University
Through its teaching and research programmes, the School promotes a view of education as a multidisciplinary field of enquiry and a view of teaching as a learned profession. The integration of theory, research and practice is a strong unifying philosophical position for the Department's offerings.
We have a commitment to equity and the promotion of bicultural and multicultural studies. Through research and scholarship, nationally and internationally, the academic staff seek to advance knowledge and understanding of education. The School aims to provide learning opportunities for students who will become critical and reflective professionals, who are well informed on the theory of education and whose practice will be based on the best research available.
The broad goal is to enable students to acquire intellectual skills of enquiry, analysis and argument, and, within applied programmes, well-founded practical skills, in order to contribute to the future well-being of individuals, communities and society in general. The School is made up of these broad areas:
- Social Foundations (history, philosophy, sociology)
- Policy Studies

- Educational Administration and Leadership
