Otis prepares diverse students of art and design to enrich our world through their creativity, their skill, and their vision. Among its alumni are MacArthur and Guggenheim grant winners, three-time Oscar awardees, legendary costume designers, leaders of contemporary art movements, and design stars at Apple, Abercrombie & Fitch, Pixar, DreamWorks, Mattel, Nike, Disney, and more. Programs Otis is well known for its BFA degrees offered in fashion design. Under the direction of Rosemary Brantley, this program is considered one of the top fashion design programs of its kind in the U.S. Otis Fashion Design is housed at the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles. Students benefit from working closely design mentors and are trained in all aspects of the design process while emulating a fashion design studio, and following the industry’s seasonal schedule. Otis offers four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees in Architecture/Landscape/Interiors, Communication Arts (Advertising Design, Graphic Design, Illustration), Digital Media, Fashion Design, Fine Arts (Painting, Photography, Sculpture & New Genres), Product Design, and Toy Design. Students in their first year take courses in the Foundation Program, and their studio work is complemented by Liberal Arts & Sciences courses. Eligible students may pursue an interdisciplinary studio concentration or a minor in sustainability, teacher credential preparation, cultural studies, community arts engagement, art history, creative writing, art history, or book arts. |
