University of Technology Malaysia

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), is a leading innovation-driven entrepreneurial research university in engineering science and technology located both in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia and Johor Bahru, the southern city in Iskandar Malaysia, which is a vibrant economic corridor in the south of Peninsular Malaysia.

With a strength of more than 2,000 academic staff, of which more than 200 are foreign graduate faculty members, UTM continuously strives to develop and enhance quality academic and professional programmes of international standard and global recognition. The student population consists of more than 11,000 full-time undergraduate students, more than 6,000 enrolled on distance learning programmes as part-time students and more than 9,000 postgraduate students in various fields of specialisation. Out of this, more than 3,000 are foreign students.

• The Centre for Advanced Software Engineering was established in 1996 as a joint-venture project between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Université Thales, France for enabling the technology transfer into Malaysian industry, especially the software industry.

Campus

UTM has two campuses. The main campus is in Skudai, and it was the first university in the state of Johor. It has an area of 1222 hectares (campus map), and is the second largest public university after Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). It is about 20 km north of the state capital, Johor Bahru, and is relatively close to the Sultan Ismail Airport, Senai.

The branch campus is situated in Jalan Semarak within Kuala Lumpur, with an area of 18 hectares. The branch campus accommodates diploma students, part-time students (also known as the SPACE program), and foreign students taking business courses.
