    Graduate School of Business

Since 1989, School of Management, Universiti Sains Malaysia has been offering management and accounting programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. When USM was conferred the status of a Research University by the Ministry of Higher Education, the new mission of the School of Management was to form a separate Graduate School of Business (GSB). The Advanced Management Centre (AMC) was established for start-up purposes in May 2007, with the prime responsibility of managing the School of Management’s taught postgraduate programmes. Subsequently, in November 2008, AMC evolved to become the Graduate School of Business. To fulfil the aspirations of USM’s APEX university status, GSB intensified its effort to position itself at the forefront of the industry by offering programmes and research collaborations that specifically meet the needs and expectations of the business community as well as society at large. School of Management

Management studies have long been offered at the University Sains Malaysia (USM). Management courses were offered by the School of Social Sciences since the 70's. Owing to its popularity, a Management major was introduced in 1978. Approximately 10 years later the Bachelor of Management degree was offered and that marked the start of a concerted effort to form a separate entity to run the management programmes. The dream was realised when the School of Management (SOM) was established on the 1st. of December 1989 and SOM embarked on her illustrious journey offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.Commencing mid-March 2007, USM has commissioned Professor Dato’ Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim, the former Dean of SOM, to set up the Advanced Management Centre (AMC) and thus, laying the foundation for USM’s GRADUATE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS (GSB).

Currently, the GSB manages all the TAUGHT postgraduate programmes (via coursework) namely: MBA (on-campus and online), MBA (International Business), MBA (Sustainable Development), MBA (Service Science, Management & Engineering), and DBA programmes.
