    National University of Malaysia-Law

     

     

    The Faculty of Law UKM was established on 1 February 1984 with the admission of 36 students for the Law Matriculation programme and later admitted into the first year of 1986-1987 academic session. In 1989, the faculty received recognition from the Qualification Board set up under the Legal Profession Act 1976.

    The first batch of students graduated in 1990. In 1996, the faculty received the approval from the Ministry of Education to start its first Masters of Law and Law PhD programmes. The first graduate candidates were enrolled in the first semester of the 1997-1998 academic session for Masters of Law degree based on course work and Thesis and Thesis only programmes. Starting from the first semester of 2002-2003 academic session, the faculty introduced another programme for postgraduate study based on Course Work only.

    The Faculty of Law in collaboration with the Centre for Education Expansion UKM began offering programmes for executives. The programmes offered are Masters in Intellectual Property (Executive) started during the second semester of the 2004-2005 academic session and also Masters in Business Law started during the 2005-2006 academic session.
