Sunshine Coast University

Located in one of the country's fastest growing regions, the University of the Sunshine Coast campus at Sippy Downs has grown to accommodate more than 7,000 students. Planning began for the Sunshine Coast University College in 1994. The University opened in 1996, becoming the first greenfield university to open in Australia since 1971.

Full university status was granted to the institution years ahead of schedule, and it officially became the University of the Sunshine Coast on January 1, 1999. Since its establishment, the University has focused on community engagement, campus development, innovative programs and a personalized approach to learning.

“I’ve always wanted to travel outside of Australia, and I figured it’d be awesome to study at the same time,” he said. “Plus, I knew I’d be able to build networks and make myself some friends overseas.” In choosing NCSU, Jim considered the courses on offer and his career ambitions. “I was happy anywhere in the States, but NCSU has a large number of psychology courses,” he said. Jim believes his GO Program experience will help his future career. “Potential employers who see that I’ve gained a different cultural perspective from studying in another country will see me as a stronger candidate for employment,”
